This year is the 55th anniversary of the Fair Housing Act. Signed by president Lyndon B. Johnson, this landmark civil rights law was passed on April 11,1968, which made discrimination in housing transactions unlawful.

In 2022 $350,000 was utilized for our Prevention Services Program. Which helped 239 families from becoming homeless.
Spotlight on Success
LaToya* and her three children were referred to us by a community partner. All three of her children have had COVID while she was recovering from her second bout. Because of this, she was having trouble making ends meet then to make matters worse, LaToya’s basement flooded during last year’s flash floods. Because of our incredible supporters, Loaves and Fishes was able to assist LaToya with five months of rent in 2022. In addition, so that she could get back on her feet again, we helped her with utilities: Missouri American Water, Ameren, and Spire. As always, we will be here to help LaToya and her family as they continue with the success of their life.

Looking for a rewarding volunteer opportunity for your group? We’d love to have you. Volunteers help create the daily boxes for the food pantry clients, perform light cleaning in the shelter, special holiday meal distributions, and much more.
