Working Family and Homeless
Not too long ago, my daughter and I found ourselves without a home to go to. We had no family or friends to turn to for help, and we were running out of options. After calling the 211 Regional Housing hotline, we were accepted into Loaves and Fishes, which provided us with a safe place to stay.

While living there, I maintained employment at a Large Local Grocery Store, and my daughter returned to her Middle School. After hard work and prioritizing our needs, I was notified that I received a housing referral voucher, which was a massive relief. However, one of the obstacles I faced was an outstanding electric bill that I needed help to pay. Thankfully, the Loaves and Fishes’ Prevention Services Program paid $1000 towards my outstanding electric bill, which allowed me to turn on the electricity at my new place. I was able to move out successfully into my own home, where my teenage daughter finally has her own bedroom. I still receive Food Pantry and other services from Laoves and Fishes, and I am so grateful for their help.
