Our organization is guided by a dedicated board of volunteer members who generously give their time, talent, and expertise in service of our mission. As stewards of the organization, board members provide strategic leadership, ensure responsible governance, and help maintain transparency and accountability.

Through their commitment, advocacy, and community connections, our volunteer board members strengthen our work and help ensure the long-term impact and sustainability of our organization. Their service is vital to everything we do.

President – Janice Muschany

With over 32 years in public safety, I am deeply committed to advancing the mission of Loaves and Fishes. Through my work with the fire district, I support community outreach efforts, educate individuals who rely on Loaves and Fishes’ services, and help raise awareness among first responders about the vital resources the organization provides.

My involvement on the board reflects my belief that Loaves and Fishes does more than meet immediate needs—it equips individuals with the tools, knowledge, and support necessary to build sustainable, successful lives.

Destiny Massey - Recording Secretary

With over 14 years of experience in the beverage industry, Destiny has honed her skills across production, marketing, and product development. Her career reflects a strong understanding of both operational execution and brand growth. Originally from Southwest Missouri, she has lived in St. Louis for the past 15 years, where she has continued to expand her professional expertise while remaining actively engaged in the community.

I serve as the Regional Vice President of Housing & Economic Empowerment for the Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis, where I provide strategic leadership for the Housing Division serving St. Louis City, St. Louis County, and St. Clair County, Illinois. My work centers on advancing housing stability, financial empowerment, and community development initiatives that strengthen individuals, families, and neighborhoods.

I am a HUD-Certified Housing Counselor, Credit as an Asset Master Trainer, and Freddie Mac CreditSmart Certified Facilitator, with extensive experience in housing counseling, credit education, and economic empowerment strategies. In addition, I am a qualified Mediator, Notary Public, and the Broker/Owner of Real Estate Connections, allowing me to bridge nonprofit service, housing advocacy, and real estate expertise.

My commitment to service extends to Iota Phi Lambda Sorority, Inc., Alpha Zeta Chapter, where I served as Recording Secretary from 2020 to 2022. I currently hold the honor of Soror of the Year for the 2023–2025 biennium and am a recipient of the Fredda Witherspoon Service Award for service and leadership.

I am also active in ministry, serving on the Leadership & Intercessory Prayer Team at Fresh Start Bible Church, where I collaborate with community partners to support outreach and service initiatives.

Vice President - George Sloan

In 2024, I became involved with Loaves & Fishes for St. Louis, motivated by its strategic commitment to addressing hunger and homelessness in our community. Drawing on my entrepreneurial background, I applied targeted business methodologies to engage individuals who may not traditionally participate in philanthropic efforts. My work has included streamlining donation coordination processes and developing structured volunteer programs to improve accessibility and participation. Through these initiatives, I focus on aligning local resources with community needs, fostering stronger connections and a more compassionate, collaborative approach to service through strategic resource allocation and volunteer mobilization.

Dr. Steven Verity - Member / Chaplain

I have been affiliated with Loaves and Fishes since its inception, contributing more than 23 years of service to the organization. Throughout this time, I have served in multiple leadership capacities, including President, Vice President, and various other board roles. I continue to serve as Chaplain for Loaves and Fishes.

I hold a PhD in Christian Counseling and bring over 30 years of pastoral experience, having served in numerous ministry positions. My professional background reflects a sustained commitment to spiritual leadership, organizational governance, and compassionate service to the community.

    Recording Secretary - Destiny Durbin

    With 14 years of experience in the beverage industry, I have honed my skills in various aspects of production, marketing, and product development. I am also a dedicated mother to my 4-year-old son, Beckett, and I am happily married to my husband, Drew. Originally from Southwest Missouri, I have lived in St. Louis for the past 15 years, contributing to my professional growth and personal life in this vibrant community.
